The penny trick is to remove the rubber boots over the springs on the hatch and put a penny or two in the bottom, then return it. This gives a little more lift, but more than three penny's can dent the hatch as the spring presses up on the metal whecn closed.
I'll be sure to try that out if the dealership can't fix it.
