This isn't at all like installing a red GTR start button* and taking pics of it and posting it on the370Z.com so viewers can admire and compliment your new mod, is it?
Facebook is here to stay whether people hate on it or not. The best way to hate on it is to not devote any energy to it at all. I am always amused by how vehemently some people hate Facebook; So much so that they get all worked up complaining about it! The simple solution is to not create an account and ignore it.
Case In Point: At the salon where I used to work, the owner had a client who, every time she came in, went on and on about how much she hated Facebook and all the Farmvile posts, Surveys and other crap she got from her friends... not to mention the friend request from people she didn't want to be friends with. The owner of the salon, whose chair was next to mine, would join in on this face-hate party and it would go on for 45 minutes non-stop. At the end, one had to wonder why either of them bothered to maintain a Facebook account when all it did was bring them so much grief.
There is definitely a lot of stuff on Facebook I can live without, but it's not causing me enough grief to get worked up over it. It's like dropping the junk mail into the shredder when I sit down at my desk. No big deal.
Case In Point #2: The majority of my "friends" on Facebook are not actual friends by definition. They're not people I hang out with or talk to on a regular basis. However, they are people who I do want to have easy access to me. When I left one salon and moved to another, Facebook made it very easy for my clients to find me at my new location which prevented me from losing business and income. Using Facebook did not violate any non-compete clauses and did not require me to use any intellectual property from my previous employer. On top of that, "advertising myself" on Facebook is free and it basically does all the work for me.
For me, Facebook is a great networking tool as well as great way to catch up with people I know all over the country and world. For some, it's a great place to play games, take surveys or air your dirty laundry to the world. Use it for what you want or don't use it all all. Either way, the choice is yours.
Be my friend... or not.
